FT.com / World - US services sector stronger than expected
An increase in export orders helped US services companies perform slightly better than expected last month suggesting the sector is withstanding economic headwinds more resolutely than other parts of the economy.
In my opinion, you have to be getting out of manufacturing (and food production) if you expect your company to last through the next 100 years. The costs of making something and growing something are trending towards zero.
Now, you’ll argue that raw materials are at an all-time-high and that things cost more… but, really, if what you build comes down to the cost of raw materials, that’s cheap. We have a limited supply, but it’s still (and will remain for a long time) a big limited supply.
